Case Study: Promoting Your Products and Services >

Momma Ann's Kitchen

The Company: Initially home-based, this catering service branched out into a full-fledged business.

The Problem: The owner, "Ann" had been obtaining clients through referrals from her friends and family circle. Networking and passing out home-made flyers had not been producing many new customers and she had reached a roadblock in the growth of her business. A close friend of hers hired me to use the information from her flyer to create a "menu" that would help attract new customers.

The Solution: A menu was designed as a brochure for ease of distribution. Once you open it, you see the side dish menus on the left, and on the first right panel I wrote two simple statements, "Delicious food. Satisfied customers." When you unfold the right-hand side, the second menu of main dishes is revealed in the center and on the right, a list of types of events she caters. When completely unfolded, the four-panel brochure, reveals a decorative dessert menu, an order form plus contact information.

My goal was to keep it simple, maintain the focus on the food selections, use the brochure to advertise her service and provide a convenient way for potential customers to place orders.

The client was overjoyed with the results and received a number of new customers in the first month of use.

When I saw this menu I cried, literally. It meant so much for (someone) to do this for me and I loved it. I gave out all of them in the first week and the calls started to come in. When I finally met Natalie I hugged her so hard I broke her sunglasses hanging around her neck. But she was nice about it. Thanks Natalie!
